Born in Mexico City and exposed to the cultural environments of Switzerland, Canada, Brazil, Mexico and USA, Novelli combines composition, sound engineering and performance to achieve high standarts in the music production industry. In 2000 he joined Grammy award-winning Brazilian jazz composer Milton Nascimento in Rio de Janeiro as part of the production crew for his Brazilian tour. As a composer, Novelli has been invited to present his work at SOCAN New Music Festival in 2003 in Saskatoon Canada and in several concert halls of Mexico City. He was one of the 20 composers selected worldwide to attend the 2008 NYU-ASCAP Foundation workshop in New York, this gave him further exposure to film scoring and conducting as he conducted an orchestra made of musicians from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera House Orchestra.

At the same time he was studding his major in Classical Composition he also won consecutively two full scholarships (2008 and 2009) given by the Tom Jobim Foundation to attend the advanced course in classical recording techniques at the Campos de Jordao International Festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil under the tutorship of Grammy Award winner recording engineer Jakob Haendel. In 2009 he won another scholarship to attended the Classical Recording Program at the Edgar Stanton Audio Recording Institute through the ASPEN Music Festival and School under professors Jack Renner (Telarc founder and winner of 11 Grammy awards).

As a recording engineer he has worked with world renown musicians, orchestras and ensembles such as Lang Lang, Kurt Masur, VocalEssence, Javier Camarena, Arturo Marquez, Alondra de la Parra, Cuarteto Latinoamericano, Orquesta de Minería, Orquesta del Teatro de Bellas Artes, Orquesta Sinfónica de Toluca, Wycliffe Gordon, Aaron Goldberg, among others. As a composer, his classical compositions have won several awards, one of the most important is the second place in the professional category for the 1st. National University of Mexico Composition Competition, this award placed him on the international classical music stage when his “Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra” was performed by the National University of Mexico Philharmonic Orchestra (OFUNAM) as part of the regular 2012 season.

He was selected 3 times (2012-13 / 2014-15 / 2017-2018) by VocalEssence and Chicago a Cappella as part of the Composer in Residence program (Cantaré) in the Twin Cities, Rochester and Chicago where he composed new music for high school choirs and professional ensembles while at the same time sharing Mexico’s culture. In this same period, he won the Young Artist Scholarship given by the National Cultural Arts Committee of Mexico (CONACULTA). Between 2010 and 2013 Novell wrote articles for 2 different magazines (Sound Check & Music Life Magazine) having several columns about recording engineering and composition having published more than 40 articles nation wide. In January of 2015 Novelli was selected to work with Game Coder Studio to make the music for the video game “Attractio” this product is the first video game made in Latinoamerica to be distributed worldwide by Japanese renown company Bandai-Namco for Sony Play Station 4, PsVita and Steam. From 2013 to 2016 Novelli was part of the jazz guitarist Julio Revueltas band, were he played keyboard and was on tour traveling thru different states of Mexico, the final concert with this project was at the world renown music festival “Vive Latino 2016” were they played for more than 10,000 persons.

In  October of 2015 Novelli and the soprano Lanzilotti Angélica founded the Lanzilotti Concert Choir, this is a unique program held by the well known Farmacia Paris company based in Mexico City. In this project Novelli is currently the Artistic Director. He is also on the board of directors (since 2013) of the Audio Engineering Society (Mexico’s Chapter) and arranges, composes and records albums for the government of Mexico as well as for independent artists.
